Solar Water Pump for Karangon village

Bonnie, the Chairman of SolSol’s Steering Committee, is also Head of the Lutheran Development Services (LDS) department.

His team has developed and built a solar water pump to supply drinking water to Karangon village and a school at Wasu in the remote Finschhafen district.

The pump now transports the water over 850m distance and 170m height difference from the river stream up to the village. Until now, all water had to be carried daily in canisters and by foot from the river up to the village by women and children.

This is a small stand-alone project that shows the benefits solar energy to improve the livelihood of the village population. Imagine what more we could do with a SolSol power station to provide light and energy for the entire village!
